OVERVIEW
The experiences children have in their early years play an important role in shaping future learning. At NEA, we work to ensure that each child’s day is meaningful, engaging, and joyful. Our curriculum is designed to nurture curiosity and inspire children to explore and question the world around them. Within each thematic unit, teachers thoughtfully blend literacy, math, science, social studies, music, and art to create rich, engaging learning opportunities. Through play, exploration, creativity, conversation, observation, and reflection, children develop knowledge in ways that are both memorable and meaningful.
Self-Directed Play
At New Einsteins Academy, we believe play is an essential part of a child’s day. Research continues to show that play-based learning supports deeper engagement, stronger social-emotional development, and meaningful academic growth. For young children, play is both joyful and deeply valuable—it is one of the most natural and effective ways they learn. When learning feels joyful, it becomes more meaningful, memorable, and lasting. At NEA, we believe play and learning naturally go hand in hand. We provide dedicated time for self-directed play, allowing children to move freely throughout the classroom and choose activities that spark their interest. This kind of play helps children build important life skills such as creativity, independence, and social confidence. Through play, children learn to collaborate, take turns, solve problems, respond to others’ feelings, and navigate classroom expectations. These early experiences help lay the foundation for positive relationships, self-awareness, and a growing understanding of the world around them.

Teacher-guided Play
Teachers play an important role in thoughtfully preparing activities, materials, and classroom spaces that inspire imaginative play. They might create rain-forest dioramas, set up an airplane cockpit, mummify a chicken, or fill the sensory table with a wide range of familiar and unusual materials. Teachers also create engaging activities and playful learning opportunities that support literacy, math development, and dexterity. Offered daily, these experiences enrich children’s play while helping them develop important cognitive skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making, memory, and planning.
Language and Literacy
Our language and literacy program is woven naturally throughout the day and across the curriculum. Children develop language through listening, speaking, dramatic play, and a variety of meaningful learning experiences. Verbal skills continue to grow as language is thoughtfully incorporated into daily routines, play, and classroom interactions. Teachers regularly introduce new theme-related vocabulary, create engaging language experiences, and support the development of phonemic and phonological awareness in age-appropriate ways. We offer a rich library of both fiction and nonfiction books, along with many opportunities for children to enjoy reading individually and in groups. From early pre-writing experiences in the toddler years to group storytelling and writing in preschool, teachers help nurture children’s curiosity about written language and support each step of their literacy development.

STEM
Young children possess a natural capacity for inquiry, discovery, and problem-solving. At NEA, our approach to STEM learning nurtures that curiosity through thoughtful, hands-on experiences that encourage children to investigate, create, and make meaningful connections with the world around them. Children are offered rich opportunities to build a strong foundation in early mathematical thinking. Through play, games, and intentionally planned teacher-guided experiences, NEA students are introduced to age-appropriate concepts such as counting, patterning, measuring, estimating, ordering, graphing, and spatial awareness. Science learning at NEA is rooted in exploration, experimentation, and conversation. Through discovery in the science center, theme-related investigations, hands-on experiments, and guided discussions, children begin to think like confident, curious young scientists. As they explore life, physical, and earth sciences, they learn to observe carefully, ask thoughtful questions, test ideas, collect information, and reflect on what they discover.
Social and Emotional Development
A central aim of our program is to thoughtfully nurture each child’s social and emotional development. Through meaningful interactions and gentle guidance, children learn to recognize and express their own feelings while developing sensitivity to the emotions and perspectives of others. Daily classroom life offers many opportunities to practice sharing, taking turns, forming friendships, helping others, collaborating on projects, solving problems, and communicating with confidence and care. When conflicts arise, teachers support children in working through them with language, empathy, and simple, constructive solutions. Equally important is helping children begin to understand the values that shape a thoughtful and respectful community. We foster kindness, respect for others, care for the natural world, and the understanding that every person holds equal worth. In doing so, we help children develop a genuine appreciation for the similarities and differences that enrich people, families, and cultures.

Social Studies
The classroom is one of the first communities a child joins beyond the family, and through our social studies program, we help children develop an understanding of the relationships between people, places, and the environments they share. A strong focus of this learning is geography, as children explore a wide range of countries and regions through thoughtfully chosen themes and experiences. As they study different parts of the world, children are introduced to local animals, cultural traditions, celebrations, and ways of life. They may learn about holidays and observances such as Diwali, Cinco de Mayo, and Lunar New Year, helping them build a deeper appreciation for the richness and diversity of the world around them. To bring this learning to life, we also invite children to experience culture in tangible and memorable ways. Whenever possible, we incorporate foods connected to the countries or regions being studied, giving children the opportunity to try new dishes and expand their understanding through taste, conversation, and shared experience. Through themes ranging from Me in the World and What Do Parents Do All Day? to broader studies of world cultures and geography, children are encouraged to grow in curiosity, respect, and global awareness.
