School Traditions & Special Events

Our traditions and special events are a meaningful part of life at NEA. Throughout the year, they bring children, families, and teachers together to celebrate, connect, and create lasting memories.

One of our favorite traditions is the Heritage Concert & Potluck. Children sing and dance to songs from around the world, and families bring homemade dishes to share. It is a joyful way to celebrate the many cultures in our community and helps children feel proud of the traditions they share.

We also host a Moms’ Social, which gives new moms a chance to meet other families and feel more connected to the school community in a warm, relaxed setting.

During the summer, families from all of our schools come together for an All-School Picnic filled with entertainment, activities, and time to connect. It is a fun event that helps bring our larger community together.

Throughout the year, children also take part in special parades, including Earth Day, Fourth of July, and Halloween parades. These celebrations add excitement to the school year and give children a chance to enjoy festive traditions together.

Parents’ Night Out is a special complimentary event that gives parents the chance to enjoy a child-free evening while their children stay at school for a fun night with friends. During the event, children enjoy games, activities, music, and extra time to play and connect with their classmates. It’s a fun treat for children and a nice opportunity for parents to enjoy a little time to themselves.

Our winter celebrations bring joy through festive activities and special seasonal traditions. Children enjoy a student celebration featuring a holiday winter show, along with cookies and milk.

We also believe in teaching children the importance of kindness and giving back. Through our cookie sales fundraiser, families help raise money for Chicago HOPES for Kids, supporting children experiencing homelessness.
